KEEPING HEALTHY WHILE TRAVELLING
We have been travelling recently - on long international flights. The last thing you want is to arrive at your destination only to get sick - or for that matter arrive home and get sick. Planes and airports are notorious breeding grounds for germs. Confined spaces seeing many people passing through and not regularly wiped down to remove germs.
So how do you avoid catching things while in transit? We chatted recently to a doctor who explained to us how best to keep healthy on the road.
Contrary to what you'd think, the plane's air conditioning system is actually designed to filter germs very effectively. So the person sitting behind coughing and spluttering is not likely to pass it on. Where you can pick up contagious bugs is through the things you touch. The toilet door, the tray table, the buttons on the armrest.
The single best way to avoid anything is to regularly wash your hands or spray them with an effective Hand Sanitiser - and definitely spraying them prior to eating.
We usually carry two Bondi Wash Mist Sprays when we travel (two in case we lose one). Bondi Wash Mist Sprays meet the independent lab test standard 'kills 99.99% of germs' thanks to the anti-bacterial Australian bush. Gentle enough to be sprayed directly on the skin to kill germs and bacteria, it is a great way to sanitise seats and hard surfaces. You'll definitely want to carry one in your luggage!
In Australia we have recently released our Lemon Tea Tree & Mandarin Travel Spray, a naturally scented spray to refresh, sanitise and deodorise clothes and luggage, soon to be launched in Europe!
Other tips from Belinda our Founder include plenty of sleep, taking melatonin for jetlag (Solgar make the best but can be hard to find) and taking vitamin C and Bioceuticals Arma Force when the throat gets tickly or you feel something coming on.
