LUNAR NEW YEAR 2022
The 2022 Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is happening on February 1st this year, and unlike the modern Gregorian calendar, this event varies each year involving different traditions and celebrations.
Traditionally, the Lunar New Year lasts 16 days starting from Chinese New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival. The official date of the Chinese New Year changes every year but always falls between January 21st and February 20th, as it is decided by the Chinese Lunar Calendar, based on moon and sun cycles. China’s public holiday for Lunar New Year lasts 7 days, but holiday dates for other Asian countries and regions varies from 1 to 3.
During this time, people will usually travel back home to their families and celebrate with food, drinks and cooking! According to the Chinese zodiac, 2022 is the year of the Tiger, which for people of this sign means bravery, unpredictability and confidence.
Recent years of the Tiger are 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and now 2022; recurring every 12 years. People may guess your personality based on the zodiac sign since each year is represented by an animal (zodiac sign). The legend states that people born under a sign will have similar traits to that specific animal.
