Pick the right plant for your space

Pick the right plant for your space

A little bit of nature can transform a room. Buying plants are a great way to re-decorate your place and brighten up the atmosphere. But not every plant fits inside a house, and not all houseplants will thrive the same, which is why getting information and instructions beforehand is important to get the best result possible. In fact, each plant has specific needs and ‘preferences’, some are more sensitive to light than others, and some require more care than usual. Whether you’re looking for a plant with special benefits to put in a specific room or you’d like one with minimum care allowing you to leave for several days without worrying, the right greenery is just an information away. And in case you’re wondering what benefits plants could have on you, several researches found that owning one at home decreased stress and anxiety, reduced depression symptoms, increased general memory retention, heightened levels of productivity, and increased overall quality of life.

For your Bedroom

Bedrooms are meant to recharge your battery. Plants can help you purify the air from toxins and produce nighttime oxygen, freshen your room and help you sleep. For this reason, we suggest choosing Peace Lilys, Sansevieria (“Snake Plant”) or English Ivy. They thrive in any kind of light and need little care, so you won’t have to worry about falling leaves and water it every day.

For your Living room

Designing a living room can be tricky and balancing decoration and furniture isn’t as easy as it sounds. Often, adding a touch of green helps brighten up the space, but with all the options available, the right choice seems further away every time you shop. We suggest going for a Kentia Plant, Rubber plant or the Fishtail Palm. They generally require once a week watering, aren’t messy, and vary in sizes allowing you to find the right match.

For your Office

Buying a plant for your office is quite common, but with busy schedules it often ends up neglected. If you’re looking for an autonomous plant, we suggest a Cacti or a Dracaena cent. These plants will thrive on neglect as they can stock huge amounts of water and can survive in the toughest environments. Moreover, their looks will add an elegant and caring touch to your desk.

For your Kitchen

The kitchen is a busy space, with lots of movement and action. Usually we tend to opt for a smaller plant that has the right balance between practical and decorative. Basil is a popular choice thanks to its polyvalent use, if you like cooking, we definitely recommend growing one at home. Other suggestions include the Aluminium plant (Pilea Cadierei), which will save you counter space as it is a hanging plant. Lastly, Aloe Vera, often referred to the “plant of immortality”, not only is it one of the easiest plants to take care off, its healing properties could come in handy in case of a kitchen burn incident.
