FLAME TREE

FLAME TREE

Flame tree, commonly known as Illawarra Flame Tree or Kurrajong, is a vibrant, distinguishable tree renowned for it’s bright red, bell shaped flowers. More and more evidence is suggesting that the more vibrant the pigment of a particular plant, the higher the antioxidant capacity for the body and the skin. This is particularly true for flame tree extract, which has an antioxidant capacity that far surpasses heavyweights such as blueberries and Vitamin C.

An active compound found in flame tree flowers is flavan-3-ol, otherwise known as catechin, a natural phenol and antioxidant. Catechin is commonly found in green tea, and numerous studies have linked the benefits of daily consumption of green tea with catechin’s antioxidant abilities for the body. This is potentially why there are numerous products containing green tea on the market, as it has incredible potential for the skin due to the bioavailability of catechin for the skin. Flame tree has the same incredible capacity for free radical scavenging as green tea with the added benefit of the bioflavonoid Rutin. Rutin is an emerging hero in the beauty industry, as recent studies (2016) have shown it stimulates oxygen and creates blood flow. Lack of oxygen to the skin is the result of gradual weakening of capillaries which are highly susceptible to free radical damage from the sun and other external factors. This often results in visible veins and pigmentation which can contribute to the appearance of ageing skin. Studies done on bioflavonoids, specifically Rutin, have shown that bioflavonoids provide micro vascular protection to the skin. What this means is that they are able to help the body protect the delicate capillaries which increases oxygen flow to the skin, ultimately enabling the skin to regenerate itself naturally. We’ve all heard that sweating can help our complexion through stimulating circulation, yet skin care can also pack a punch in this department! Find flame tree extract in our Body Lotion.
